This coin was minted to help fund the 1995 Special Olympics World Games. The obverse has a portrait engraving of Eunice Kennedy Shriver, the founder of Special Olympics. The reverse shows a Special Olympics medal with a rose, and a quote from Shriver: "As we hope for the best in them, hope is reborn in us."

The coin was produced at the Philadelphia Mint and has a "P" mint mark. The specified weight is 26.730 grams and the composition is 90% silver / 10% copper.
